“What is the best time to visit Madrid?” The short answer: spring and fall. The useful answer: it depends on what you’re looking for — and each season has its own twist.

Spring (March–May): the star

  • Climate: 15–25 °C, full terraces, incredible light. The month of May is the favorite month of Madrid residents.
  • Events: San Isidro (May 15) with concerts and parties throughout the city; Madrid Río in full splendor.
  • Tip: it’s really high season; Book accommodation and museums with margin.

Summer (June–August): the manageable challenge

Autumn (September–November): the second best

  • Climate: September is almost summer; October is the perfect month — mild, stable, with the Golden Retreat.
  • The good: the cultural agenda is back loaded (theatre, new exhibitions at the Matadero) and prices are down from the summer peak.

Winter (December–February): the best kept secret

  • Climate: dry cold (0–12 °C) and lots of sun — Madrid in winter is bright and clear, ideal for walking.
  • Events: Christmas lights and Three Kings (January 5–6)… and our favorite: the Chinese New Year in Usera, with a dragon parade through the neighborhood between January and February. It is the most spectacular festival of the Madrid winter and it happens five minutes from our accommodations.
  • Tip: It is the cheapest season to stay and the best for museums without lines.

Quick summary

  • Best weather: May and October.
  • Best price: January–February.
  • Families: June or September (river, water jets, gentle rhythm).
  • Curious gastronomy: dates of the Chinese New Year, in Usera.

Whatever your month, here you have the base: accommodations in Usera with availability in real time.

More and more people work for a few weeks from another city. Usera fits better than the center: neighborhood price, wifi, metro to the center in 20 minutes and the river to disconnect when closing the laptop.
